How We Serve

The Good Shepherd Alliance is a Christian non-profit faith-based organization. This defines how we work and serve in the community, not whom we serve or employ. Everyone has a place here, and even if you don’t believe in God, you can still believe and support us in what we do.

Homelessness in Loudoun County

The homeless population in Loudoun County has seen a dramatic rise in homelessness in the past several years. This is due in part to the high cost of housing, lack of sustainable job opportunities, and the unhoused are typically not in plain sight. Many individuals and families live temporarily with family members or friends, in cars or hotels, making them difficult to identify or help. The Good Shepherd Alliance believes that education and awareness, community outreach, and program development, are the tools needed to address this community need.  We partner with existing social services organizations and charities to provide a variety of training programs that address individual and family needs. Our programs helps those in need to improve their physical and mental health, and provides opportunities for vocational training and employment. You can be a part and support our programs here.

Statement of Faith

We believe there is one living and true God, existing in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who created all, upholds all, and governs all;  We believe that God, the Father, perfect in holiness, wisdom, and power, so loved the world that he gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to the concern and affairs of men;  We believe that Jesus, whom is The Good Shepherd, guides, protects, and leads people, hears and answers their prayers; and that He saves all who come to Him by faith from destruction.  We believe in the Holy Spirit, who renews, brings truth, encourages, and empowers Good Shepherd Alliance in our ministry to serve in the name of Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error, and that it is the instruction for faith and practice by which we live and serve. Good Shepherd Alliance follows in the footsteps of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

Our Guiding Values

We view our clients and our surrounding community as our guests and neighbors with whom we seek to cultivate a relationship rather than seeing them as having problems to be solved.  We collaborate with community leaders, citizens, local government, educational institutions, human service organizations, businesses, congregations, foundations, and other organizations to develop a spirit of care for all and partnership.  We create programs that open doors to housing security, economic independence, and self-sufficiency, which allow our guests to become involved and contributing members of our community.  We seek to develop innovative cross-sectional partnerships by involving our guests in opportunities where they can offer their skills and leadership in the ongoing programs of The Good Shepherd Alliance, Inc. and those of our many community partners.

Vision: Every family and individual in Loudoun County will live in safe, affordable, and permanent housing to become self - sufficient participants in the community.
